Mariacristina Saraceno is a writer, educator and parent developing The Apprentice Adult: an evidence-informed framework for helping young people gradually acquire the competence, agency and accountability needed to govern their own lives.
She holds an MSc in Applied Neuroscience and has worked with young adults at Bloomberg, coached teenagers and families, and developed and delivered educational programmes for young people. She is the author of three books and the mother of four young people at different stages of the transition towards adulthood.
The Apprentice Adult grew from a question she could not find adequately answered in existing parenting and educational frameworks: what, exactly, needs to be transferred to a young person before they become responsible for their own life—and how should that transfer occur?
Her work brings together neuroscience, psychology, education, lived experience and practical thinking tools to explore how families and institutions can prepare young people more deliberately and equitably for adulthood.
